etudes on the work of e. e. cummings (2013) was originally meant to be a set of art songs based on e. e. cummings’ poetry. That said, copyright laws prohibit the unlicensed use of cummings’ works. With this in mind I transcribed the art songs I’d written for horn and piano to make a set of three accompanied etudes, each named for the original set poem: “humanity I love you,” “somewhere I had never travelled,” and “i thank you God.”
